| 250 bed acute care hospital in eastern Texas is seeking a Director of Infection Control. The position will investigate and monitor known or potential sources of suspected infections; demonstrate knowledge of standard methods and criteria for identifying nosocomial infections; instruct and counsel patients and staff on infection control issues and concern; collaborate with other members of the team to follow up on exposure incidents; participate in interdisciplinary teams providing input regarding treatment plans; maintain related data, prepare and submit reports; utilize computerized documentation system to access relevant patient data; utilize knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities; orient and mentor new staff members; and follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications include: Current TX RN licensure; graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; Bachelors Degree in nursing or a related field preferred; strong background in clinical nursing; knowledge of laws, regulations and standards related to hospital infection control; previous experience as an Infection Control Nurse preferred; Certification by the National Certification Board of Infection Control and Applied Epidemiology preferred; must be eligible for Certification and obtain such within 18 months of hire; critical thinking skills; decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
