Home Selling Tips

Selling your house can be very trying and difficult in some markets. In addition, there is an emotional attachment involved that is difficult to manage. By detaching yourself from the "home" and transitioning into selling a "house" will make this process much easier. We always recommend using a Realtor because they know the market, they know the demand and they will help you along the way.

Inside improvements. Home buyers prefer clean, tidy and attractive houses. Hire a cleaning team or make it spic & span on your own. Have your carpets professionally cleaned. Touch up areas that require a little paint or re-paint a room if it is dark and drab. De-personalize your home so that the home buyer can "insert themselves" into the picture.

Outside improvements. Trim the trees, mow the lawn, paint the fence and rake the leaves. Plant new flowers that are colorful and that complement your home. Get rid of the outside clutter and store everything away neatly. Wash the windows so that when a home buyer looks out they have a clear view.

Bring in a Realtor. Once you have your house cleaned up and ready to go, bring in a seasoned and experienced Realtor. Ask them to assess your home for it's value and inquire what other comparable homes are selling for in the area. Be open to their suggestions on what needs to be done to sell your home.

Price it to sell. Obviously you want to make a lot of money from your investment but you also must consider how much the house will cost you if it does not sell. By pricing it right, the home will sell faster then if you sell it more than what other comparable homes are selling for.
