Going above and beyond what your competition is doing, means more than providing a higher salary, free childcare, relocation reimbursement, bonuses, memberships, discounted services, and matching 401k's. Going above and beyond means taking care of things on a personal level and letting the candidate know that you are sincerely interested in him or her. Going above and beyond will increase the odds of you hiring health care professionals.
Star Treatment. If a candidate is flying into visit with your organization for a midlevel or high level position, have a car ready for them at the airport. You do not necessarily have to send a limousine, but a nicer car with plenty of room will certainly make a difference. Most transport services have these readily available and will certainly convey a positive message to the candidate. Exceeding their expectations will help you hire health care professionals.
Welcome baskets. When a candidate is visiting from out of town, have a welcome basket in their room. This could be a basket of local favors that are not found anywhere else as well as information about the community that is neatly put together in a nice package. Not only have you sent a message to them that you are interested from the beginning (you had a nice car pick them up), but you are reinforcing this throughout their visit with your organization (at night they will go back to the room and see the welcome basket). Personalizing their visit will help you hire health care professionals.
Always buy. Do not ever let them pay for the check at a restaurant or in your dining facilities.
There are many other ways of going beyond but it really depends upon the limitations and possibilities of your organization. It is not wise to buy anything that is overly expensive because that will send the opposite message. By taking care of the smaller details, you will be going above and beyond your competition.
