Job Description

BE/BC Family Practice physician needed in northeast New York to start as soon as possible. General Family Practice for all ages, due to current FPs no longer taking new patients, not enough FPs to support needs in community. Patient volume expected to be seen per day is approximately 20 to 30. We service 1 hospital in an area of 40,000 to 50,000. Call for new candidate coming in for weekend call for attached AND unattached patients is 1:5. Weekend call begins at 5 pm on Friday evening and ends at 7 a.m. on Monday morning. Shifts are usually split between two FPs - worked out among themselves. The FP group is very flexible with weekend call, so everyone gives and takes for harmony. Frequency of being called in is extremely low. ED docs will call and discuss the patient and admit on FPs behalf, unless FP prefers to come in. Hospital has exclusive contract with ED group for six physicians and four Physician Assistants. PAs work 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. shifts only peak hours with ED physician.
