Job Description

BE/BC Palliative/Hospitalist needed in southwest Wisconsin. Seeking a Hospitalist with an interest in providing more patient centered, humanistic care on our innovative, non-traditional palliative care service. Candidates must be board certified in internal medicine or family medicine, with interest and/or experience in hospital medicine, and be certified or willing to pursue certification in palliative medicine. Primary care focus and geriatric experience are desired, but not required. The service was established in 2005 and provides symptom control expertise and comprehensive care for patients with advanced disease using the palliative care philosophy. It is currently staffed by 2 physician and 3 nurse practitioners FTEs, providing 24/7 full continuum coverage with night coverage being provided by Hospitalist and hospice night staff. The medical director is board certified in palliative medicine, and 3 other team members are pending certification. 7 on 7 off schedule can be arranged. Average census is 8 to 10 patients, including inpatient hospice patients. This opportunity will allow you to complete the necessary requirements for board certification in palliative medicine. The palliative service is in the process of being expanded into a novel primary care service dedicated to late stage chronic illness in conjunction with a Medicare demonstration project.
