Many job seekers looking for new employment opportunities do not have the time or patience to draft, develop, and formulate the type of CV or Resume that employers have come to expect. Even if you have time and skill in this regard, a professional resume writer will view your experience more objectively, and use targeted keywords and formatting that is more likely to get you noticed.
Make the most of your time. Enlisting the help of a professional will allow you to spend valuable time networking and performing research on opportunities that interest you most.
Time is money. Depending on complexity, it may take a professional resume writer anywhere from 4 - 20 hours of solid effort to complete a client's CV or Resume, including the initial interview, formatting and design, draft edits, and the final product. Sure, you may be able to create it more quickly yourself or have a friend volunteer, but how well will it stand up under two or three seconds of scrutiny by a hurried executive with dozens of resumes to sift through?
Decrease your frustration. If you have worked under one employer for a long period of time or if this is your first big leap into furthering your career, it may be difficult to know where to start, what to include, what to say, and even harder to do so in a format that employers prefer to see. Again, it may be worth it to have a professional take care of the hassle for you.
Stand out from the crowd. Assuming that your education and experience qualify you for the position, your resume is sometimes your first and only means to help you stand out in a crowded field of applicants. An effective resume writer will accentuate your strengths, eliminate your weaknesses, and develop a more polished document for you to present.
Not all "professionals" are created equal. Resume writers may belong to more than one professional association, however, make sure to verify that your writer is not only a member, but is certified. In some cases, membership only requires paying a monthly or annual fee, but depending on the organization, certification demands a set standard of expertise that includes specialized training, a timed assessment exam, and continuing education requirements. Two of these well known organizations are The National Resume Writers Association (NRWA) and The Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (PARW/CC).
